FAQs

These are some of the most common questions that I have recieved. If the answer you need is not listed here, please go to the "contact us" page and submit your question(s). A reply will be sent as soon as possible.

What should I do before a massage?

Drink water, be of good hygiene and wear something comfortable. If you have a relaxation CD or a favorite massage lotion, feel free to bring them along.

What type of massage will I recieve?

You can choose the method of massage you prefer, or try several kinds. I may recommend a certain therapy depending on your current needs.

What kind of lotion/oil will be used?

I use a hypoallergenic, unscented gel that is suitable for most clients, but also offer a few aromatherapy oils. Some kind of oil or lotion is necessary to reduce friction.

How many massages will I need?

The answer to this is dependant on further information. I will need to ask questions like:  How long has the condition been there?  What kind of self-care are you doing?  What kind of work do you do?  What type of injury?  Do you get adquate rest each night?  Do you regularly drink water?

Once I have that information we can estimate a number of sessions. I ask that you allow for no less than three sessions within a certain number of weeks to better evaluate your response to the massages. Each person will respond differently. Every massage should be a steady improvement and build on the accomplishments of the previous session. An entire session focused on the problem area will usually bring better results.

Will I need to completely disrobe for my massage?

Your comfort level is very important. The amount of clothing removed is up to you. Please be aware that you are always covered with a sheet during the entire massage. You will gain the most from your massage when I am able to work directly on the skin. To do so, I use a technique called, "draping" which only uncovers small areas as they are worked on. Personal areas are never uncovered.

Will the therapist be in the room while I disrobe and get on the massage table?

No, to maintain your modesty I will always leave the room before and after while you are changing. Once you are on the massage table and under the sheet I will knock on the door to make sure you are ready before entering.

Will I be covered during my massage?

Yes. The only area that is uncovered will be the area that is being massaged. Again, personal areas are never revealed.

Am I able to have a specific area focused on as well as a full body massage?

This is a popular choice among my clients. I will spend a limited amount of time working on the specific area in order to give a full body massage.

What parts of the body will be massaged?

This is something we will discuss before your session. You can choose the areas you would like to be worked. A typical full body massage includes the Face, scalp, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, back, hips, abdomen, legs and feet. The breast and genital areas will never be exposed or touched under any circumstance.

What should I do during my massage?

During the massage it is helpful for you to tell me what you like and/or dislike. Practice breathing deeply and focus on relaxing your body throughout the session. This will help you to get the best possible results.

Where will the massage take place?

The massage is given in a heated, private room with relaxing music. You also have the option of a heated massage table, or no music if you prefer. In some cases massage can be given in a specially designed massage chair in the same room or in a more open location. Clients are always fully clothed during chair massages, but there are some limitations as to what forms of therapy can be done.
